he MIT senseable city lab brings us a lovely concept: The Copenhagen Wheel. This bicycle wheel can turn any ordinary bike into a hybrid by storing the energy you generate when braking. This energy can be used to give you an extra boost when needed. But the Copenhagen Wheel has another unique feature, it comes equipped with a measuring tool that maps pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time.
You can hook up your smartphone to the wheel, turning your bike into a personal fitness trainer, a tourguide and a navigator. You can even use your phone to lock and unlock your bike! A social feature allows you to connect the application to Facebook and share bike trips and other information with your friends. The more you ride, the more 'green miles' you collect. You can spend these green miles to help the environment. Would love to try this out in Amsterdam.
