Electric car newcomer and Tesla rival Faraday Future has revealed its Type FFZERO01 electric concept supercar at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

With more than 1,000 bhp, the single seater is rather a feasibility study than a car with real-world applications. Faraday' Future's FFZERO01 four-motor sports car features a modular battery-pack design enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under three seconds and achieve a top speed of more than 200 mph.

Backed by Chinese financing (with some ripple due to recent stock exchange issues) the Faraday Future electric car's powertrain features a Variable Platform Architecture (VPA) with a new battery structure that is centrally placed for integrity and arranged into modular 'strings'. Adding or removing the strings changes the overall battery capacity and allows Faraday to develop new wheelbases and crumple zones, which are optimized in each specific zone for safety.

An intelligent, modular approach builds on a flexible battery layout and multiple powertrain configurations offer the potential to deliver a diverse range of vehicles to market faster and more efficiently than previously thought possible. The Faraday electric vehicle will be designed to offer autonomous driving capabilities from the start, and Faraday also is exploring shared ownership or pay-per-use ownership models.

Sadly a Faraday Future spokesman at the show gave clear no-nos for test drives along the California coast , or even a review on Top Gear. He was also vague about the price of the new vehicle.
