High Voltage Monitor Chip
Linear Technology Corp have introduced the LTC2965 and LTC2966 single and dual voltage monitor chips capable of monitoring 3.5 V to 100 V while drawing just 6 µA quiescent current. The LTC2965/LTC2966 are available in a 3 mm square package with pads that directly interface to high voltage rails. Each device includes resistor-programmable threshold inputs to facilitate simple undervoltage, overvoltage or window monitoring of positive or negative rails within an accuracy of ±1.4% over temperature.
In addition to the high voltage inputs, the LTC2965/LTC2966 includes an adjustable-polarity UV/OV comparator with outputs that can be pulled up to voltages as high as 100V. All high voltage pins are rated to 140V and are able to withstand high voltage transients without damage. Built-in high value resistive dividers provide programmable voltage ratio and threshold programming is achieved using low value discrete resistors in combination with configuration pins for scaling the comparator thresholds and setting output polarity. An on-board buffered reference provides low voltage biasing for the external resistive dividers. High and low threshold input pins provide for a flexible and wide hysteresis range by setting a different voltage on each pin. If the hysteresis value is not critical, one of the inputs can be grounded to select an internal default hysteresis voltage.
Pricing starts at $2.44 (LTC2966) and $1.98 (LTC2965) each, respectively in 1,000 piece quantities.
