Here’s an interesting concept launched on KickStarter recently: The MicroView from Geek Ammo crams all the functionality of an Arduino into a thumb sized package together with a built-in 64 x 48 OLED mono display. It uses standard DIP plug-in headers making it compatible with a prototyping breadboard environment and can be programmed and powered from different sources.

The system runs at 5 V from a 3.3V to 16V DC supply. Processing power comes from a 16 MHz ATmega328P with 32 KB flash memory, 2 KB SRAM and 1 KB EEPROM. There are also six analog inputs and 12 GPIOs three of which can be used for PWM outputs. The system supports the Arduino™ IDE 1.0+ (OSX/Win/Linux) and is 100 % Arduino compatible.

Their Kickstarter campaign hasn’t run its course yet and they have already been pledged well over their initial target so we shall see MicroView shipping in August retailing at around $45.
