Global Semiconductor Sales Up 21%
According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global sales of semiconductors hit $38.7 billion in May 2018, which was an increase of 21% compared to May 2017. May 2018 sales were 3% higher than April 2018. SIA reports that sales increased in every region with the Americas (31.6%) leading the way. China posted a 28.5% increase and Europe increased by 18.7%.

Elektor Magazine Renamed ElektorLabs Magazine
Elektor International Media has changed the name Elektor Magazine to ElektorLabs Magazine. While the name has changed, the mission remains to deliver the highest quality content by engineers, for engineers. The July & August 2018 edition is first featuring the new name. Check it out.

- Siemens has entered into an agreement to acquire Austemper Design Systems, which is an Austin, TX-based startup that develops analysis, auto-correction, and simulation technology for testing and hardening IC designs for functional safety in applications such as automotive, industrial and aerospace systems.
- United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) recently acquired Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor (MIFS), a 300-mm wafer foundry joint venture between both companies.
- Dell announced it is returning to the public market, and it intends to retain control (with Silver Lake) over VMWare, which Dell acquired in 2015.
