Compact signal generator optimised for ATE environments
The SGS100A signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz is more compact than previous RF sources but delivers the same performance as high-end conventional instruments. With frequency range coverage extending to 12.75 GHz, it is optimised for use in automated test systems. The device occupies just half the width of a standard one-unit 19-inch rack slot, allowing four RF sources be installed in the space previously needed for a single unit.
The compact R&S SGS100A provides RF performance comparable to that of high-end signal generators. It offers a very high output level of +22 dBm (typical) as standard and has an electronic step attenuator that operates over the entire frequency range. Its low non-harmonic level of –76 dBc up to 1.5 GHz make the generator an ideal signal source for converter tests.
With typical frequency and level setting times of 280 µs, the R&S SGS100A is three times as fast as its conventional counterparts. This yields higher production test throughput in addition to the significantly reduced space requirements.
The R&S SGS100A is available in two versions. The CW version generates frequencies up to 12.75 GHz and can be used as a local oscillator, as well as for interference testing against mobile radio standards. The vector signal generator version with an integrated I/Q modulator offers a maximum frequency of 6 GHz and covers the most important frequency bands for digital communication standards. RF signals from multiple R&S SGS100A units can optionally be phase locked to support beamforming applications for the aerospace and defence industries.
