Compact USB 3.0 camera streams at 120 fps
The latest members of the Flea3 family of compact USB cameras from Point Grey feature USB 3.0 interfacing and imaging streaming at 120 fps. Measuring just 29 x 29 x 30 mm, the ultra-compact FL3-U3-13S2 models are based on monochrome and colour versions of Sony’s IMX035 CMOS sensor, which is able to generate 1.3 megapixel (1328 x 1024) images at 120 frames per second. The IMX035 uses Sony's Exmor™ technology, which combines the speed of CMOS with advanced image sensor technologies.
The Flea3 camera provides a unique set of features dedicated to maximising USB 3.0 reliability, including a 32 MB frame buffer for image retransmission; on-camera monitoring of power, temperature, and status; and in-field updatable firmware. Point Grey has also developed its own USB 3.0 link layer IP, which is implemented in an FPGA. The new Flea3 USB 3.0 camera models are ideal for applications in machine vision and factory automation; scientific applications such as astronomy, microscopy and biophotonics; and prosumer applications such as video conferencing and kiosk imaging.
