Elektor Grove I²C FM Radio Receiver
Demonstration of a fun little FM radio that can be controlled over an I²C bus. Shown is how to do this in two versions. One with an ATtiny85 to create a tiny radio, with a mini-jack, a trimmer and two buttons for the radio channel selection. A second version is based on an ATmega328 with a rotary encoder for a more comfortable application and a display showing both the frequency and the volume.

One with an ATtiny85 to create a tiny radio, with a mini-jack (audio output), a trimmer (volume) and two buttons (scan up/down) for the radio channel selection. A second version is based on an ATmega328 with a rotary encoder for a more comfortable application and a display showing both the frequency and the volume (as bargraph). The Grove is based on the RDA5807M, a single-chip broadcast FM stereo radio tuner with fully integrated synthesizer, IF selectivity, RDS/RBDS and MPX decoder. The tuner uses the CMOS process, support multi-interface and require the least external component. All these make it very suitable for portable devices. The RDA5807M has a powerful low-IF digital audio processor, for optimum sound quality with varying reception conditions. The RDA5807M series support frequency range is from 50MHz to 115MHz.
