IIOM, the International Institute of Obsolescence Management, will be holding its first international conference in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. The event, which runs from 16-18 June, will be the largest OM event in Europe in 2015.
Director Stuart Kelly and technical manager Ian Blackman are expecting some 100 delegates to come to Edinburgh. The delegates will be travelling to the Scottish capital from all over the world. All of them are specialists in dealing with obsolescence risks one way or the other. They are working for both distributors and OEMs.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together all knowledge regarding OM, whether this knowledge originates from the UK or from Germany (the two countries with an IIOM national chapter) or elsewhere.
Speakers during the conference all have a well-known background in OM and are working for companies such as BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Siemens, GE, Alstom, Thales, Atkins, CALCE (University of Maryland) and Cranfield University from the UK.
The conference also provides an opportunity for the IIOM to explain its new fresh start as an knowledge based institute. Momentarily, the organization is laying its groundwork for a qualification scheme, with courses leading to an Institute Certificate and an Institute Diploma.
