STM's products come in 3 categories: tag (subset of RFID), dynamic tag (connected to hardware), reader (for memory transfer). Tags can be read (with or) without apps, in a native way, on a mobile phone. For dynamic tags, boards are provided which plug into STM Nucleo board, with open source software tools for reading and libraries available.
