Measuring system handles frequencies up to 1.5 terahertz
In collaboration with Virginia Diodes (VDI), Keysight Technologies has developed a 1.5 THz measurement system for the Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden. The system is already being used in Chalmers’ national laboratory for terahertz characterization. The first system in the industry for these frequencies facilitates network analysis and spectrum analysis in research on new materials, equipment and circuits.

The system consists of a Keysight Technologies PNA-X microwave network analyzer covering the range from 10 MHz to 67 GHz, along with external expansion modules from VDI that extend the range to 1.5 THz. Both network and spectrum measurements are necessary to understand the performance and behavior of devices, and the test equipment in the PNA family is the first to offer integrated spectrum analysis capabilities extending to the terahertz range.
