New module S2-LP based
Long range with low power consumption, this radio frequency transceiver module has a small shape that facilitates its integration.
Based on the S2-LP STMicroelectronics transceiver, the new S2-LP / RC-S2LP-XXX module from Radiocontrolli, is the successor of ST's SPIRIT1 (RC-SPIRIT1-868), which extends the transmission distance, offering greater selectivity, a extremely low power consumption and great configuration flexibility for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
This device is a high-performance, ultra-low-power radio frequency transceiver designed for wireless RF applications in the lower 1 GHz band, which is becoming one of the IoT's guiding principles.
The new RC-S2LP-XXX radio frequency transceiver module from STMicroelectronics was designed to maximize performance while minimizing space utilization by presenting four programmable I / O pins programmable from an external microcontroller via an SPI interface.
Models and characteristics of the radio frequency transceiver module
From the module we have three versions available: RC-S2LP-434 which works with the frequency of 433 MHz, RC-S2LP-868 for 868 MHz and RC-S2LP-915 for frequencies of 915 MHz.
The consumption offered by these modules is 7 mA during reception and 20 mA during transmission at +14 dBm (from 11 mA to +10 dBm), while in sleep mode the consumption is only 0.7 μA.
In long range operations, the sensitivity is -109 dBm at transmission rates of 38.4 kbps, up to -128 dBm when the data transmission rate is 0.3 kbps. Interference from other wireless communications can be overcome by blocking 90 dB, while radio-frequency output power levels can reach up to +16 dBm, ensuring robust signaling for long-range communications.
It has a metal shield and is ready for use in SMD mounting (15 × 22 mm).
STMicroelectronics provides an evaluation board, STEVAL-FKIXXXV2, although we can also do with the RC-S2LP-XXX-EK based on the RC-S2LP-XXX module.
You can use this adapter with NUCLEO board (from STM) or with ARDUINO.
