NI announces LabVIEW 2013
National Instruments rolled out the latest 2013 version of the LabVIEW design and development environment at the NI Week Technology Event in Austin, Texas last week. This latest release of LabVIEW incorporates improved code writing reliability features and interfaces for the latest tablet operating systems.
The software package includes a number of productivity enhancements including code documentation and commenting tools along with better debugging tools.
Data Dashboard 2.1 now allows user systems to interface with mobile devices running either Apple IOS or Google Android. VI Package Manager is also bundled which allows access to many 3rd party Apps and developer add-ons from the labVIEW tools network.
The associated CompactRIO industrial controller has also seen something of a makeover now sporting a dual-core ARM processor as part of its ZYNQ all programmable ‘system on a chip’ hardware using the latest 7-series logic. The system also sees the welcome arrival of an open Linux operating system replacing the licensed version of RTOS VxWorks.
On-Line training resources have also been expanded with many more example applications and a self-paced tutorial for users new to the system.
