Research Initiative for Industry 4.0
Infineon officially launched Productive4.0, the largest European research initiative for Industry 4.0, in Dresden on May 19 of this year. Under Infineon’s coordination, more than 100 participants in 19 countries will be working on industrial digitalization and networking. They include companies such as BMW, Bosch, Philips, Thales, NXP, SAP, Volvo and Ericsson, as well as renowned research centers such as the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and the Dresden University of Applied Sciences.
The goal of the initiative is to create a user platform with the emphasis on digital networks for manufacturing companies, production machines and products. The participants will investigate methods, concepts and technologies for a service-based architecture, along with components and infrastructure for the Internet of Things. Additional aspects include standardization and virtualization of processes, or in other words, simulation of production processes in order to optimize real workflows.
The Productive4.0 program will run until April 30, 2030.
