SDR transceiver boosts agility of radio test system
Agilent Technologies and Lime Microsystems (UK) have mated test equipment, transceiver technology and control software to create a new approach to testing and evaluating advanced wireless systems. The test and evaluation platform, consisting of a Lime Microsystems SDR transceiver, Agilent test equipment and software from both vendors, is intended to save time for designers of digital and software-defined radio systems and shorten product optimisation cycles.
The Lime Microsystems SDR transceiver and associated control software allow users to adjust the transceiver’s uplink and downlink frequencies over the full range of 300 MHz to 3.8 GHz and to configure on-chip channel filters to accommodate all mobile telecommunication standards.
The combination of Agilent’s test equipment and Lime’s transceiver allows users to generate digital IQ signals with a pattern generator, convert these signals to RF, and analyse the RF signals with Agilent’s vector signal analyser software on an Agilent spectrum analyser or wideband oscilloscope.
This setup is supported by a comprehensive set of Agilent software tools, including the company’s popular Signal Studio, coupled with the Lime user interface for optimising RF parameters for a particular standard or frequency band, enabling fast, easy configuration of the Lime transceiver.
