SilentSwitcher: a compact super power supply for audio circuits
Audio specialist Jan Didden, well known for various audio projects in Elektor and his own publication Linear Audio, has developed a special power supply module designed to supply clean power to high-end analog and digital audio circuits. According to the designer, the SilentSwitcher module is line voltage independent and produces little noise or RFI, and its power dissipation is virtually zero.

Jan Didden developed the SilentSwitcher module because he needed a compact, high-quality power supply unit for small audio circuits and was unable to find an existing unit with satisfactory characteristics. The SilentSwitcher uses a combination of switching and linear regulators to generate a stable and noise-free supply voltage. The module can be powered from a 5 V USB adapter, or from a 5 V power bank for complete isolation. It delivers ±150 mA and a choice of 6 V, 5 V or 3.3 V at 0.5 A.
A very popular Kickstarter campaign for the SilentSwitcher module is currently underway. The target amount has already been massively oversubscribed, and for $59 you can reserve a SilentSwitcher for yourself. For that you receive a fully assembled and tested module. Delivery is expected to start in November.
