Towards the indestructible LED
Owners of chemical plants, power generation facilities and swimming pool buildings, rejoice! Lumileds have released their HR30 super LED! The new device was designed into an extremely robust packaging and uses materials to protect it from harsh environments, including aggressive and highly corrosive chemicals like chlorine and Sulphur.

The fantastic chemical resistance is partially attributed to its gold-plated lead-frame and it has been tested to IEC68-2-43 (15 ppm): DLOP < 10%, Du’v’ < 0.006 after 21 days.
Lumileds' Matthew Everett claims that engineering for chemical resistance is all about selecting the best materials and then testing those materials under harsh conditions. The results: an LED that lights 100 Khours at 105 degrees C. Its 4,000-K and 70-CRI output is 125 lm at 134 lm/W driven at 150mA. At 70 CRI, options are 4,000, 5,000 and 5,700 K. At 80 CRI, options are 2,700, 3,000, 4,000 and 5,700K.
So shine a light om me, HR30!
