Eurotech, a specialist in embedded technologies, products, and systems, has launched the Zypad WL1500 series of wearable computers. Following in the footsteps of the popular Zypad WL1000 and WL1100, the new Zypad WL1500 delivers long battery life, even better performance, mobile communication capability and wearing comfort in an IP54 package. The Zypad WL1500 is ideal for users who need instant access to information while maintaining mobility in applications such as search and rescue, medical care, homeland security, law enforcement, logistics, maintenance and transportation.

The Zypad WL1500 series has extensive communication capabilities. The user can maintain connectivity through a full range of communication protocols, including 3G, CDMA and GPRS mobile telecommunication, WiFi and Bluetooth. The device features built-in GPS support for location-based referencing of acquired data. To support mobile users, the Zypad WL1500 series features power conservation techniques and increased battery capacity, allowing the device to operate for more than eight hours. The unique hot swap feature also allows the user to change the battery on the fly without losing any data.

The Zypad has a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen with QVGA resolution and backlighting. Also included are an integrated microphone, mono audio speaker and support for an external microphone. An integrated barcode scanner is available as an option, along with support for an external ring scanner as with previous models. Additional features include a microSD slot, 128 MB of SDRAM, flash memory and a twelve-button keypad with built-in backlight.

The Zypad WL1500 series will be generally available in Q2 2011. It initially comes with Windows CE 6.0 support.
