The circuit described here has excellent resolution up to 15 minutes and is very easy to set. The end of the preset time period is announced by an electronic gong rather than the usual buzzer. The timer is completely self-contained and is ideal for short cooking periods where accuracy is required. The two most critical parameters in cooking are expertise and timing. We have to admit that our knowledge of the first (and foremost) require- ment could be written on the outside of a 2716. However, the second point is a different kettle of fish.
