Digital Echo Unit Eg1000
DIGITAL ECHO UNIT EG1000 design: ELV GmbH The EG1000 echo/reverberation unit uses delta-modulation on a digital basis, and is capable of providing delay times of up to one second over a large bandwidth at an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. A new, advanced, echo unit with superb technical specifications and a good price/performance ratio will no doubt be welcomed by a great many audio enthusi- asts. To begin with, however, it is perhaps useful to discuss briefly the difference be- tween echo and reverberation, since these operations on audio signals are often con- fused. General description In an electronic echo system, intermediate signal storage works independently of the input sound, so that the delayed sound, which includes speech, is identical to the original. Reverberation systems, on the other hand, produce sounds with differ- ent delay times, so that speech is often reduced to noise or a continuous sound. The EG1000 echo unit enables reverb-like signals to be generated by ...
