Spare displays for Nokia 3310 mobile telephones are offered cheaply not only by several surplus goods outlets but also via Ebay. A small program allows such a display to be controlled from a PICAXE micro. The PICAXE is a PIC-based microcontroller marketed by Revolution Education Ltd. The special loader utility programmed into the chip allows it to be programmed with uncommon ease.
