Altium is organizing a summer competition based on its free PCB design software, CircuitMaker. Everyone who is interested in collaborating on novel electronics, can send in a design between May and August 2016. The projects will be judged by Altium as well as Other Machine Co., a manufacturer of portable desktop CNC milling machines. The first prize is the first production unit of the Othermill Pro, retail value $3,199.
CircuitMaker is almost as professional as its paid version Altium Designer, the well-known EDA software tool to design PCBs. However, there is one main difference between CircuitMaker and Altium Designer: CircuitMaker designs become publicly available in the so-called Community Vault. Altium and Other Machine want to stress the collaborative nature of CircuitMaker by giving away a practical prize, a state of the art desktop CNC milling machine with which to bring any design into 3D reality.
The winner will be announced by video and newsletter in August, and contacted directly via email. Runners-up will receive additional gift voucher prizes.
Additional details for the (global) competition can be found at http://circuitmaker.com/blog/Blogs/2016-project-of-the-summer .
