So, was the engineering community slacking during two years of Covid restrictions, or did they find a boost of energy? With the return of Embedded World in Nürnberg, Germany, Elektor’s running reporter Stuart Cording got to find out. Here is an overview of some of the new microcontrollers, power devices, IoT solutions, and networking events that have emerged.
The World Needs Power
Without a proper power supply electronic circuits don't work and so Stuart visited some companies actif on the power supply front. Here Nowi introduced their energy harvesting solution, the Diatom (NH16D3045) PMIC while TDK presented the CeraCharge solid-state battery for energy-harvesting PMICs. Together with Sebastian Fischer of Traco Power Stuart talked about the miniaturization trend in power converters.
Microcontrollers & Tools at Embedded World
NXP presented a new line of MCX Scalable MCUs and S32 Real-Time Automotive Processors. Stuart had a chat with Daniel Cooley, CEO of Silicon Labs on all things MCUs and wireless for Internet connectivity, and the role of RISC-V. Microcontroller firmware development requires good tools and so Embeetle introduced a new microcontroller IDE. Microchip is busy integrating SciLabs into MPLAB and adding machine learning utilities to it.
This video gives an overview of some of the new microcontrollers, power devices, IoT solutions, and networking events that have emerged.
