Nexperia, the former Standard Products division of NXP, today announced that it is expanding its logic portfolio – already the largest in the industry – with new devices that expand the company‘s translator solutions into the standard logic shift register arena.
The first translator solution in the expanded range, 74LVC8T595 is a world’s first: a cascadable 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out I/O expansion device that combines shift register function with voltage translation. This single-chip solution replaces two devices, delivering higher levels of integration and a smaller footprint. It operates in the 1.1 to 5.5 V range, enabling newer low-voltage controllers to interface with legacy solutions.
74LVC8T595 benefits from Nexperia’s LVC family technology with IOFF circuitry for partial power down-mode operation, which contributes to energy savings. The device is available in 20-pin leaded TSSOP and leadless DQFN packages. Both packages are specified for -40 °C to +125 °C and
can be released in the company’s Automotive (-Q100) portfolio.
Nexperia already markets the lowest power 5V, 3.3V and 1.8.V translator solutions and it is bringing this capability to its new standard logic voltage translating shift register products. Commented Nexperia’s Senior Product Manager for Logic, Michael Lyons: “These new devices are helping to create a market by enabling voltage-level translation for new low-voltage controllers to interface with legacy solutions and vice versa. Our devices save space and BOM costs and help to improve system integration and performance.“
