Soundboks is a battery-powered loudspeaker developed by three young Danish high-school graduates in response to the lack of good portable loudspeakers for outdoor festivals. Soundboks is the first portable speaker able to produce a sound pressure level of 119 dB, more than the PA systems of typical festivals. The unique rechargeable battery system enables the Soundboks to work for up to 100 hours on a single charge, and the rugged design is rain and sand resistant.
With optional Bluetooth and an Aux input connector, every mobile phone, iPod or even a DJ deck can easily be connected to the Soundboks. The speaker comes with two external battery packs, each good for about 30 hours of music entertainment at 113 dB. The batteries can be charged in 3 hours and can be swapped in just 5 seconds. Soundboks sales were launched last week via Kickstarter. The Soundboks is priced at $499 during the Kickstarter campaign, with a store price of $699 later on.
