UDOO's new ‘BOLT’ maker board reached its $ 100,000 funding target just four hours after the campaign was launched on Kickstarter. Check out its mouth-watering spec, you’ll want one too.
The12 cm square board is almost twice as powerful as a MacBook Pro 13" and has an introductory price tag of just $ 229. It's the world's first maker board based on the AMD Sozen Ryzen Embedded V1000 SoC with an integrated ‘Vega’ GPU architecture on the single chip, the CPU has 4-cores, 8-thread capability running at 3.6 GHz peak clock frequency with a thermal design power of 12-25 W. The mains power adapter included with the bundles is rated at 65 W and powers the board at 19 V. A heat sink and fan for the SoC are also included.
Its GPU offers impressive capability; supporting every current triple-A video game, HDR, Radeon FreeSync 2 and can video stream in 4K resolution @ 60 fps on four screens simultaneously, thanks to its four FCC and CE certified video ports (2x HDMI 1.4/2.0 A and 2 x DP alternate mode on USB - C). Designed for AI, VR, AR and Computer Vision, it offers the AMD SenseMI technology for machine intelligence potential. Mass storage supports M.2 NVMe, M.2 SATA and USB 3.1 standards and a 32 GB eMMC. If the funding pledges reach $ 800,000, the UDOO team has promised a free upgrade to a 64 GB eMMC.
For hardcore makers, UDOO BOLT also offers an Arduino-compatible platform, complete with IOs for the CPU and Arduino onboard. In addition, it uses Grove ports for simple maker patching, as well as a keyboard scan that allows you to build your own combo controllers. This is really just a taster, visit their campaign page for a better appreciation of what this powerful board will be capable of.
UDOO BOLT can run Windows and Linux OS and is Plug and Play.
