Professional-grade equipment for characterizing and developing audio equipment is usually beyond the means of a hobbyist lab. However, it is possible to obtain measurement software and a high-quality audio interface for relatively little cash, and in conjunction with a PC this can create a more than adequate solution for measurements on Hi-Fi devices and other audio hardware.
