With worldwide Corona cases well over half a million a day, we can safely say that we are heading for a rough couple of next months. Obviously, we are hoping for better, but at Elektor, we are even planning for another couple of months of lockdown or semi lockdowns. We believe that until the summer of 2021 our daily lives will be affected in a major way.
We did not foresee this long period when we launched the Elektor Helps during the first wave of Corona. Our program to work with our key stakeholders to overcome at least some of the negative effects of the current situation was initiated at the end of April 2020 and today we decided to move forward. Elektor Helps is targeted at readers and members, at our suppliers, and at our clients. We offer a wide range of options, from free access to our content for people in lockdown to joint promotions in our online stores, and from promoting helpful projects and initiatives to creative or even free promotional activities for companies in our industry that are hit hard.
So, we are continuing our program and we will take all our learnings of these past crazy months with us to make it even more successful this time around.
As of November 2020 we will supply more free green (digital) memberships in areas in the world where either shipping policies or even lockdowns prevent people to be able to go to a newsstand or even receive mail. Obviously our first concern is for members in those areas, but we feel we can motivate many more like-minded engineers and pro-makers by offering some inspiration during the long days of being indoors.
While we are still able to send our magazines to our respected members, statistics show that especially in the most affected countries it is difficult now to buy Elektor Magazine when you are not yet a member. The current situation makes it hard to get it at newsstands, as well, postal services are limiting separate shipments.
Practicalities aside, there is obviously a whole range of uncertainties that will make anyone reevaluate priorities in these times. So, even though more and more countries are now lifting some of the biggest limitations, we feel we can still contribute with some relief.
