How do you store your SMD components, resistors, capacitors, other small parts and screws? In this week's video, discover two products that can help you organize your lab: a component box and a small label printer. The Elektor Labs-branded component box is a stackable, durable, hard plastic box, measuring 28 x 21.5 centimeters. Its two sturdy closing clips ensure that the box stays closed in all situations. Inside, there are 128 small compartments arranged in an 8x16 grid; these are ideal for storing a whole range of small components. The compartments come with a removable lid. The lid of the box itself has foam inside to prevent the compartments from opening accidentally when the lid is shut. This product is also supplied with an assortment of specially designed labels for the small lids, as well as larger ones for the whole box. There’s space for sticking them on the top and on three sides of the box, which will come in handy for recognizing individual boxes if you're stacking more than one.
Personally, I appreciate having well-defined storage spaces. Some argue that a messy desk stimulates creativity, and there's undoubtedly some truth in that! In any case, it allows you to have literally everything at your fingertips. But every now and then, it's time to tidy up, and that's when a little organization can make all the difference. This brings us to the labeling of various zip-lock bags, drawers, boxes and other storage units that you may use. To help you with this task, the Niimbot D110 is a compact handheld label printer that’s controlled via Bluetooth. To use it, you’ll need to use your smartphone, which is simple to set up. Loading a label roll into the printer is super easy: just open the printer, drop the roll in with the end sticking out, close the printer, and you’re good to go! You can start printing right away.
