Lapcounter for slot car racing tracks
In this project I show you a lapcounter for slot car racing tracks
Last christmas I bought a slot car racing track for my grandchildren.
But soon they complained about the missing lapcounter.
As buying one was not an option for an electronic engineer, I decided to build one on my own.
Of course this lapcounter should have some features:

As buying one was not an option for an electronic engineer, I decided to build one on my own.
Of course this lapcounter should have some features:
- Displaying laps and laptime on a graphical display
- Beacon for starting/stopping the race
- Additional buzzer
- Controlling of the race with an (optional) Android-Smartphone via bluetooth connection

- Manual Lap Counters: Simple and often mechanical, these counters have buttons to manually increase the lap count. They're cost-effective but require someone to operate them throughout the race.
- Electronic Lap Counters: These are more advanced, using sensors placed on the track to automatically count laps as cars pass by. They often come with displays showing lap times, positions, and even statistics.
- App-Based Lap Counters: Some modern systems use smartphones or tablets with specialized apps and sensors to track laps. These can offer additional features like detailed race analysis and online sharing.
- Integrated Systems: Some high-end slot car tracks come with built-in lap counting systems, including advanced features like timing, scoring, and live updates on a digital display.
Each option varies in complexity and price, so you can choose based on your needs and budget.
