When designing or testing a power supply, a load is required to verify that it meets the power specifications. The most basic load is a (power) resistor, but if the behavior of the power supply is tested at different power levels, it becomes a time-consuming task if different resistors have to be connected in series or parallel to change the load. An electronic load (E-Load) then offers a solution: the load can be electronically controlled without having to adjust the test circuit again and again.
