until recently, the speed of a car engine (r.p.m.) was measured with an analogue system. It stands to reason that a digital method would do equally well. In_ principle this can be done with a common frequency meter. Since in this case the number of revolutions per minute (r.p.m.) is to be measured, the time base wi 11 have to be somewhat adapted.
