The gyration principle was suggested by theoreticians over 25 years ago, although it is rarely seen in practical circuits. It can, however, be used to simulate an inductance of (say) 10,000 H with a Q of 100 in a volume of less than one cubic inch ... ! In this article the theoretical principles of the gyrator are discussed, and some practical circuits and applications are presented
