In view of the proposed govern- ment legislation to make the wearing of car seat belts compulsory, and the prospect of a £50 fine for not complying with the law, some sort of device that reminds driver and passenger to wear their seat belts would be ex- tremely useful. The circuit given here is not intended to be a foolproof device for compelling people to wear seat belts (as is the case with some commercial systems) but is intended simply to jog the memory of the well-intentioned (but absent-minded) driver and passenger.
