Circuits which use photosensitive devices such as LDRs, photodiodes or photo- transistors to sense rapid changes in light level (e.g. in optical tachometers) can be affected by changes in ambient light level altering the biasing of the photosensor. If the bias current is fixed this can lead to saturation of the photodevice at high ambient light levels.
