ust twelve months ago, issue 21 contained an article on the digital synthesis of noise using a pseudo-random binary sequence generator. The circuit used 10 TTL ICs and soaked up some 260 mA from the power supply. Now, inevitably, there is a single IC that does the same job, consumes only one-fourteenth of the power, gives three times the output signal and occupies about one-twentieth of the volume.
