The ever-increasing use of satellites for telecommunications purposes has focused considerable interest on the problem of designing suitable aerial systems for the reception of these extremely high frequency trans-missions. This article takes a look both at some of the more commonly employed types of receiver aerials, and also at a newly developed system, the so-called `Vokurka aerial`, which, it is claimed, not only offers improved reception, but is simpler and cheaper to construct than conventional aerials.
