The 723 is a very widely used IC regulator. Hence the following cir-cuit, which is intended to reduce power dissipation when the 723 is used with an external transistor, should prove very popular. According fo the manufacturer`s specification the supply voltage to the 723 should always be at least 8.5 V to ensure satisfactory operation of the internal 7 .5 V reference and of the IC`s internal differential amplifier.
