Various designs for liquid level indicators using discrete components have previously been published in Elektor. However, this design uses only a single integrated circuit, the LM 1830 from National Semiconductor. This IC can be used in a variety of alarm circuits with resistive transducers such as LDRs and thermistors or, as in this case, a liquid level probe.
