In all fields of electronic measuring, the conventional pointer instrument is becoming outmoded. In many applications the inaccurate, mechanically delicate and short-lived electro-mechanical panel meter is being replaced by a robust and clearly legible digital display. Until recently, conventional meters were cheaper; however, things are changing. The delicate mechanical system is becoming more expensive (even when `Made in Hong Kong`), whereas its digital counterpart is becoming cheaper -`Made in Singapore`? Goodbye magnet -hello LED!
