In Homer`s Iliad, Stentor is the name of one of the Greeks at Troy, who it is said had a voice louder than that of 50 men. Stentor thus seemed a suitable name to call the amp I if ier described here, which to continue the analogy, provides the power of 50 transistor radios! The distinguishing feature of this amplifier is that it is portable(!) since it can be powered from a normal 12 V car battery and is therefore ideally suited for open-air P.A. work.
