The unit proposed here is a stereo amplifier that can deliver up to 2x13 watts true r.m.s. 46 A power amplifier designed for use in cars can, of course, not be compared with a domestic hi-fi unit, because the environ- ments in which they are used are totally dif- ferent. Space, of course, plays a large part in this: after all, most living rooms offer rather more space for a music unit than cars. Moreover, the noise level inside a car - even medium-priced models - is con- siderably higher: this is particularly noticeable during the quieter music passages, or when the radio announcer drops his or her voice (which they always do) to tell you about the next item.
