Synchronization separator
Obtaining TV synchronization pulses from a composite video signal gener- ally presents few problems, as can be concluded from the relative simplicity of sync separator circuits in colour- as well as monochrome TV sets. However, if TV sync pulses are to be used for further processing in digital circuits, the commonly en- countered sync separator fails to meet the requirements for output pulse definition and "cleanness". Thus, the separation level needs to be accurately defined in order to prevent blanking rather than synchronization pulses to appear at 10y >Q5V1313 16V C2 40 5V/15mA 1161C1 ° synchronization separator (F)BAS Ll C. 330p R1 RB Li, L2 = A2 = BTKAN 34722 BHJ (TOKO) (L = 3.9pH) 86467 • 1 EE 64 July/August 1986 the circuit output; the former may be wide enough to make a digital circuit go completely haywire!
