54 EE February 1988 Testmex 87, incorporating Itame, was held at the excellent new venue of the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. The timing of this annual exhi- bition, which is dedicated to the test and measurement forum, coincided with the Test and Transducer Exhibition at Wembley. That exhibition, as its name suggests, also covers test equipment, but puts rather more emphasis on transducer products. Textmex 87 had some 50 stands, rep- resenting nearly 200 companies. Prod- ucts ranged from small hand-held meters to sophisticated bench top ATE systems. Finalists in the Testmex Awards for Innovation were Bristol University and Kingston Polytechnic. New products launched at Testmex Datron, who have now merged with Wavetek, had on show their latest DMM. Aimed at standards and cali- bration laboratories, the Model 1281 pre- cision 8 1/2 digit digital multimeter is reliably claimed to be the worlds fastest 8 1/2 digit DMM, and incorporates Datron"s `selfcal" internal calib...
