Although installing a long multicore cable, or testing such a cable, is facilitated by the colour coding of the individual wires, it stilI needs two people to carry out the job. Even then, work proceeds satisfactorily and speedily only if these people are within earshot of each other. The tester described in this articIe overcomes these-difficulties: it enables one person to do the work, who can identify each wire unmistakably and locate short-circuits and open circuits.
