An attenuator ls a circult that reduces signal level, i.e., has an output signal level
that is lower than the input signal level. In this respect, it is the opposite of an
amplifier. Precision attenuators are trequently used in electronics to reduce
signals a specitied amount, usually expressed in decibels (dB), tor some
purpose such as measurement or stabilization.
