An active probe is required
wherever the capacitance
presented by a test instrument
(oscilloscope or voltmeter)
must be kept as small as
possible to prevent the test
circuit being unduly loaded.
The active probe described
here has a maximum input
frequency of about 150 MHz,
and an input capacitance of
only 2 pF.
