There is a vast number of
communication receivers
around that have an analogue
(needle and dial) tuning scale.
Although the RF performance
of many ex-army and other
surplus receivers (whether
valve, transistor, or 'hybrid') is
quite acceptable for radio
amateur use, their tuning
scales and mechanically
operated dials are really old
fashioned these days, and in
for 'digital' revision.
