In certain applications it may be desirable,
in order to limit unnecessary
power losses, to have the use of a
diode with a forward voltage lower
than 0.7 V. The present circuit fulfils
that desire. At a forward current of
1 A, the total drop across the two
(active) components is only 0.04 V -
an appreciable reduction compared
with a standard diode.
