In the control of electromechanical
systems such as a robot arm, positioning
is often carried out with a
pulse disk and two sensors. One sensor
provides data on how many steps
have been taken, where as the other
provides information as to the direction
in which these steps were taken.
The present circuit enables the resolution
of the pulse generator to be
doubled to give an even more accurate
position.
